BOTOX® is a cosmetic treatment designed to reverse the effects of facial wrinkles. BOTOX® cosmetic is injected into tiny facial muscles that are responsible for creating wrinkles, crow’s feet, worry lines, and laugh lines. While your winkles can be treated, BOTOX® is not meant to repair sagging skin caused by aging. Our surgeons are skilled in using this treatment to help you achieve the skin that makes you look and feel great.
Who is eligible for BOTOX®?
Anyone age 18 or older and in adequate health that would like to deal with their facial wrinkles is eligible for the BOTOX ® procedure. Patients over the age of 65 can still benefit from this procedure, but with less effective results.
Prior to the procedure, our doctors will evaluate your medical history. You will also receive a thorough examination to determine the most effective locations for injection and any issues with your health will be discussed.
The areas to be treated will be marked and digital photographs are taken to estimate the amount of improvement you can expect to experience after surgery.
Anesthesia isn’t necessary as the procedure is virtually painless, with only a small sting when the injection is made. Post-procedure you may discover slight bruising around the injection area or temporary weakness of nearby muscles, but this quickly fades and daily activities can be resumed immediately. The doctor will explain all associated risks at the time of your consultation.
Injections may need to be repeated two to three times per year to retain the effects. Research suggests, however, that long-term use of the injects leads to a longer duration of each treatment’s effect.
